mc cable

Application:

MC Cable, also known as Metal-Clad Cable, has the ability to serve as a substitute for wire and conduit in various applications, including cable tray, power lighting, service feeders, and branch circuits. This substitution is allowed by the National Electrical Code. Elite Wire offers an aluminum MC cable that is appropriate for both concealed and exposed installations, including environmental air spaces as outlined in NEC 300.22. Moreover, Elite Wire's aluminum MC cable is suitable for vertical applications, provided it is installed according to the requirements specified in section 300-19 (a) and section 330.30 of the NEC.

product features:

MC cable is made up of 3 or 4 compact stranded aluminum XHHW-2 conductors from the 8000 series, along with a bare or insulated aluminum grounding conductor from the same series. A binder identification tape is wrapped around the cabled assembly. The conductor assembly is then covered with interlocked aluminum armor. Each insulated conductor is marked for phase identification.

Standards:

The following standards and regulations are adhered to: UL Standard 44, UL Standard 1569, Federal Specification JC-30B, ICEA S-66-524, and the National Electrical Code. Additionally, compliance is maintained with RoHS, Directive 2002/95/EC, ICEA S-95-658, and NEMA WC 70.

The indicated ampacities are suitable for general use according to the specifications outlined in the National Electrical Code, Section 310.15. In standard conditions, ampacities for four conductors remain undiminished as depicted above. If NEC Section 310.15 (b) (4) (a) excludes the neutral from being considered a current-carrying conductor, utilize the ampacities specified for the three-conductor cable. Standard lengths may vary within the normal manufacturing tolerance of +/- 10%—request alternate conductor sizes or ground sizes as needed.
